Learning for Change team members and learners at a community event

Education that changes what’s possible.

We’re a social enterprise built on one belief that language and digital ability should never stand between a person and the life they’re capable of living.

Mission

To deliver high-quality, accessible English and digital skills education that enables people – particularly those facing the greatest barriers – to gain employment, progress in work and life, and participate confidently in their communities.

Who we work with

We work with people who face barriers to learning, employment, and participation. Our five priority groups are:

  • Migrants and refugees – ESOL at every level, from Pre-Entry to Level 2. Language, civic integration, employment, and SELT and visa pathways.
  • People on low incomes or out of work – English for Work, Functional Skills English, and Digital Skills, with direct connections to local employers.
  • People returning to learning or work – flexible timetables and courses that fit around family life.
  • People facing digital exclusion – Digital Confidence and English classes designed for independence, connection, and life on your own terms.
  • Young people without qualifications – Functional Skills English, Digital Skills, and integrated employability pathways.

Our courses are designed for real lives – flexible, accessible, and focused on meaningful progression.

Our approach

Progression is the product.

We combine English confidence and digital skills together to create stronger pathways to employment and progression. And we don’t just deliver courses. We manage every transition – from ESOL to Digital, from Digital to employment, from SELT preparation to passing your test.

How we deliver

  • In a local hub or community space – regular in-person classes in an accessible setting.
  • In your community – we come to where learners already are, through partner libraries, community centres, and faith spaces.
  • At your workplace – English and digital training delivered onsite, tailored to your sector.
  • Online via Microsoft Teams – live, tutor-led.

Built on experience

Our founding team brings over 40 years of collective experience in English and ESOL delivery, digital skills training, and employer-linked skills programmes including the design and delivery of a nationally recognised workplace programme in partnership with Whitbread Plc across Premier Inn hotels, cited by Whitbread as a reference model for workforce development practice.

How we work

Be Open

We say what we mean, share what we know, and welcome different perspectives and honest challenge.

Be Kind

Treat one another with care, respect, and empathy – especially in difficult moments.

Be Human

Everyone has a life beyond the classroom or the office. We support flexibility and show genuine compassion.

Be Curious

Keep learning, stay open to feedback, and never stop asking better questions.

Take Responsibility

Do what we say we’ll do. When things go wrong, we find solutions together rather than reasons.

Do Your Best

Aim high while accepting that progress matters more than perfection.
