A Learning for Change tutor in a learning environment

Work with us.

Learning for Change is built on the quality of its people.
We are a small, ambitious social enterprise and we are looking for tutors, administrators, and volunteers who share our conviction that education changes lives.

We are not a large organisation with a rolling recruitment portal.
We are a team that takes every application seriously, responds to everyone, and makes decisions quickly. We welcome speculative applications at any time. If there is no live vacancy right now, we want to know about you before we need you.

Teaching & Tutoring

Role type: Sessional, part-time, and full-time · In-person, online, and blended

We are looking for tutors across our core curriculum – ESOL, Functional Skills English, and Digital Skills as well as IELTS and SELT preparation. Our tutors work across a range of levels and settings: community hubs, employer sites, and online via Microsoft Teams.

What we look for:

  • A relevant teaching qualification – CELTA, DTLLS, PGCE, Level 5 Diploma in Teaching, or equivalent.
  • We will consider applicants who are qualified teachers without a specific ESOL or digital skills background if the enthusiasm and aptitude are there.
  • Experience teaching people in community, workplace, or further education settings.
  • An understanding of, or genuine curiosity about, the lives and challenges of the people we work with.
  • The ability to work flexibly across levels and settings.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and compliance.

We particularly welcome applications from tutors with experience in integrated ESOL and Digital Skills delivery, and from those with employer-linked or workplace training backgrounds.

Building our CELTA tutor pipeline: we are launching CELTA in summer—September 2027. If you hold a DELTA or equivalent and are interested in joining that conversation early, please say so in your application.

Administration & Operations

Role type: Sessional, part-time, and full-timeBehind every good learning organisation is a team that keeps everything running – enrolments, data, compliance, communications, and the many things that make a learner’s experience feel joined-up and cared for. We are looking for people who take that work seriously.

We welcome speculative applications from people with experience in:

  • Learner administration and enrolment in a further education or skills setting.
  • Data management and compliance.
  • CRM systems.
  • Communications and marketing support.
  • Finance and income administration.

You do not need experience in every area. If you have strong organisational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a genuine interest in the social enterprise and education sector, we want to hear from you.

Volunteering

We have a small number of volunteer roles for people who want to contribute their time, skills, and knowledge to LfC’s work. Volunteering with LfC is not a token commitment. We give volunteers real responsibility, named supervision, and genuine support for their development in return.

We ask all volunteers for a minimum commitment of one half-day per week for at least three months. We provide full induction and a reference on request.

Volunteer role 1 – English and ESOL learning support

Supporting qualified tutors in ESOL and Functional Skills English classes. You will work directly with learners, supporting their confidence and progress in class. A background in education, community work, or language learning is helpful but not essential. Enthusiasm and reliability are.

Volunteer role 2 – Digital Skills learning support

Supporting Digital Skills tutors in foundation and Level 1 classes. If you are digitally confident and patient, this role makes a real difference to learners who are taking their first steps online.

Volunteer role 3 – Administration and learner support

Supporting the administration team with enrolment, communications, and learner data. Ideal for someone considering a career in education administration who wants hands-on experience in a social enterprise setting.

Volunteer role 4 – Employer engagement support

Supporting the team with employer outreach, relationship management, and sector research. Ideal for someone with a business, marketing, or HR background who wants to contribute to LfC’s employer partnerships.

Why work with LfC?

We know what we are building and why. Every person who joins LfC whether as a sessional tutor, a full-time member of staff, or a volunteer is part of a social enterprise that has designed its commercial activity to fund its social mission.

You will work in an organisation that measures its impact rigorously, develops its people seriously, and is built to last. We are small enough that your contribution is visible. And large enough that it matters.

Our shared values are not a poster on a wall. They are how we work, and they shape who we want to work with.

Be Open · Be Kind · Be Human · Be Curious · Take Responsibility · Do Your Best

How to apply

There is no application form.

Send us:

  • A brief covering note – no more than one side – telling us who you are, what you are looking for, and why LfC.
  • Your CV.
  • If you are applying for a teaching role, a short note on your teaching approach and the learner groups you have most enjoyed working with.

We respond to every application. If there is nothing suitable right now, we will tell you – and with your permission, keep your details for when there is.
